Choosing us means joining a community filled with warmth, encouragement, and expert knowledge and experience. This is such a personal journey, and we’ll be right here walking alongside you as you grow into this incredibly rewarding work.
These are four days that will genuinely shift your confidence and how you show up for families and for yourself.
-
Our first day together begin at 10.30am.
Today is all about Doula beginnings and the role of the Doula, and most importantly we start to lay the foundations so you can feel confident in your role and your presence, grounded in how to support families through pregnancy, birth and postpartum, clear on your boundaries, your values, and the kind of doula you want to be and genuinely ready to begin, or return!
You’ll learn how to support without rescuing, to hold space without over-giving, and to care deeply while remaining steady and resourced yourself.
We also spend time on the emotional labour of this work: holding fear, disappointment, joy, trauma, and everything in between. We explore self-awareness, nervous system regulation, and how to support others without losing yourself in the process. -
Day two focuses on what it really means to be with families — before, during, and around birth.
We explore our role as doulas leading up to labour and within the birth space itself: how we prepare parents, how we hold space, and how we remain steady, calm, and responsive when things feel intense or uncertain.
This is also where we will get hands on with practising comfort techniques, positions, massage and blowing up birth pools!A large part of this day is devoted to understanding the current maternity system, how it works, where it struggles, and where doulas sit within it. We’ll talk openly about navigating relationships with midwives and obstetric teams, advocating without conflict, and supporting families within real-world complexities.
This day is about confidence, realism, and learning how to stay deeply supportive while remaining flexible and professional, and authentic to you
-
Day three is dedicated to the postpartum period, a time that is often under-supported, misunderstood, and quietly intense.
We explore what families really need after birth, beyond checklists and advice. This includes emotional support, practical care, feeding support (however a family chooses to feed), rest, recovery, identity shifts, and the early days of becoming parents.
We’ll talk honestly about the realities of postpartum life the messiness, the tenderness, the exhaustion, and the joy and how to show up as a doula in ways that are grounded, respectful, and genuinely helpful.
This day also focuses on boundaries, sustainability, and recognising when families need additional support.
-
Our final day is focused on the practical realities of making doula work sustainable as a job, and on understanding what it actually looks like to do this work alongside the rest of your life.
We talk in detail about being on call life, not just in theory, but in reality including how it feels, how to prepare for it, and how to put structures in place so it is manageable over time. We explore shared care and back-up arrangements, and the importance of not holding this work alone.
We spend time looking at client agreements, boundaries, and expectations, and how having these clearly thought through and communicated can create safety and clarity for both you and the families you support.
We also talk about getting clients, focusing on how families really find doulas, how trust is built, and how to talk about your work in ways that feel honest and grounded rather than performative or sales-led. This includes conversations about pricing, confidence, and allowing yourself to be visible in a way that feels aligned with your values.
This day is about leaving with a realistic, thoughtful understanding of how to structure your work, protect your energy, and build a doula practice that can grow in a way that feels steady, ethical, and genuinely sustainable.
